Wine Country the Place of Beauty & Romance

Alright we just got back from one of the most gorgeous places I have ever been to in California, Napa! Matt and I enjoyed a beautiful much needed weekend riding through the country. We flew into Sacramento, (and that is just another of the perks about living in So Cal Southwest’s amazing deals). We rented a little purple “Green” car, I swear the little car got 50 miles to the gallon! We headed to our resort and arrived at around 12pm famished! As we walked in to the resort we were breathless, the place was just like we imagined. A warm fireplace in the front and a concierge to meet everyone of our needs, we felt like the royal family or at least Pairis Hilton. As soon as we put our bags down, we were off for an adventure. We headed straight to downtown Napa, which was cute and quaint. They have lots of colorful murals on the walls as well as a wine tasting on every corner. We walked around for a bit, looking for the perfect deli to eat at. We stopped at a small family wine shop and did a little tasting; we had been in Napa for over 3 hours and hadn’t had a sip of wine, so we made our first pit stop. We were a little nervous at first because we don’t know too much about wine besides that it taste yummy. The lady was very informative about how to do a “real” wine tasting, we learned all about the grapes and the tannen…I think that’s what it’s called; you know that dryness in your mouth after you drink wine. Then the women recommended an amazing diner for us to eat at, Taylor’s Automatic Refresher, magnificiant! If you are ever in Napa you must go and try their sweet potato fries.

We then walked over to the farmers market which they call the Oxpo. It was so cute, filled with lots of little food markets and we even got some organic ice cream from a place called Three Sisters Ice cream, it was different. One thing we noticed was a lot of GREEN things, recycling is a must in Northern Cali, and I thought So Cal was bad. After all the walking and eating we went back to our resort and chilled out in the hot tub, it was delightful. That evening we ate at an amazing Italian restaurant with live jazz music, I wish I could remember the name of the restaurant, but I am sure if you ask anyone in Napa they will point you in the right direction.

The next day we headed to Yountville Napa, and rented some bikes. We were on the 13 mile bike trail, but ended up going for 20! It was awesome, we saw some so many vineyards and country side, truley breathtaking. We got to take our sweet time and stop at a few wineries on the way and chat with some people. We even stopped by a local market that was as small as an apartment, and picked up some delicious bread, meat, cheese, and grapes for our wonderful picnic. We sat at a winery on top of a hillside looking over the entire valley, it looked like a painting. Then we headed back to the resort for a quick change and the off to do some wine tasting! We went all over the 29 highway, we met some very neat people, and tasted some of the best wines (me mostly Matt was the DD). Our last winery was the best, the Sattui Winery. It was perfect for a picnic and had such a huge selection of fresh and organic foods. We bought these Kettle Chips, which I know they have at other places, but these chips were so scrumptious, Matt and I almost threw down for the last one! Lol…Then we headed back to the hotel and went out for some more delicious Italian foodJ Can you tell were big pasta lovers or what! On our way back to the airport the next day we stopped by the capital where we saw the Governator working his tale off, well not really but it was neat.

Overall Napa was for us a real treat and I would recommend everyone go there if they want a taste of true beauty and romance!

More pics to come!!!!!
